My first full length album, released in 2003, at a time when my life was in flux and I was moving around a lot. Started in San Francisco, mostly written in Vancouver, completed and mastered in Toronto.
I had been a hardcore rave dj on the Northern California scene and was just starting to break out when I had to leave the US. I decided to settle in Vancouver because I had always wanted to live there... but it turned out to be a very difficult year. Work was hard to come by and I wasn't enjoying the city the way I thought I would. All there was for me to do was write music, to the chagrin of my neighbours.
I was looking to break out of hardcore sounds and try many different styles; that's where the diversity of this record comes from. My friend Kevin Kirk made the beautiful cover art.
